Due to a lot of travel over the past week, I’m not one of the blogs on this hop. However, I’m a guest author for A Cup and a Book and am giving away an eBook of Unexpected Entrapment over there. If you have the time, you may want to stop by and check out my interview and follow the hop.
Miranda’s Choice by Mya O’Malley
Have you ever felt that the grass is greener everywhere else? Meet Miranda James. Miranda has a problem. Her friends and family are wrapped up in themselves, so clueless. With divorced parents, a mother who is always on her case and a new step-mother on the horizon, Miranda wishes that everybody would just grow up.
In a moment of magic, Miranda is mysteriously pulled into the life of a charming mermaid and her adventurous daughter. Why can’t her life be so carefree and exhilarating? Why can’t her own mother be more like Abigail, the mermaid? Be careful what you wish for though. Only through self-realization can Miranda figure out that perhaps the grass is not always greener. Held captive in an underwater paradise, Miranda wishes to desperately recapture the life she used to have.
Through many twists and turns, Miranda is caught up in a whirlwind of emotions, including finding her first true love.
Miranda is faced with making a decision that will not only affect her own life, but also those around her. What would you choose?
I love the way it all wrapped up. Some of the twists and turns took me by surprise, but that ending. Oh, how I loved it! ~Katie W.

Since it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d do a post about love. Instead of a cute, personal love story, I decided to take this opportunity to give my readers more insight into my writing. (I’m just not feeling all that romantic today.)
If you knew me as a child, you know I was never a girl to fantasize about Prince Charming sweeping me off my feet. In fact, I usually fought with most of the boys in my neighborhood. Fast forward many years later, and you pretty much get a tamer version. No fists, but I was highly skeptical of love in itself. My poor husband had to climb a wall to get to my heart 🙂
I’ve shaken my head in disgust at many Disney movies and could never relate to the helpless woman waiting to be saved by the handsome prince. I was highly disappointed with Ariel falling in love with a man she had never met, and the entire movie was about her trying to win a stranger’s heart. (Shaking my head in amazement just thinking about it.)
So how can I be a romance writer if I don’t believe in love at first sight? Where’s the ooey gooey feelings in my writing? Well, maybe that’s why I love to read and write fantasy romance, where things are complicated with an epic adventure alongside the romance. There are creatures, daggers, swords, and magic. My female characters are highly flawed and filled with attitude. They’re all different. (I have many future characters in my head.)
As for each of the love stories I intend to write, they are all unique within themselves. However, I promise none of the main characters will fall madly in love with a guy she just met. Even my teenage characters will keep a clear head–at first 🙂
If you love reading about a helpless woman waiting for her soul mate, my writing isn’t for you. I’m more of a guarded heart type of woman. Hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day. If you’re single, grab a good book (I do know of one), order takeout, light some candles, sip a fresh cup of hot tea or glass of wine, and take a hot bubble bath. Who says you can’t be happy alone? Oh, and don’t forget the chocolate!

This week’s raffle is for a signed paperback of your choice of one of my current novels in the Alissia Roswell Series. The eBook version of the first book in the series, titled Unexpected Metamorphosis, is now free at all major online bookstores. Unexpected Entrapment is the second in the series, and Unexpected Peril will be available this spring.
Good luck with the giveaway hop, and if you have an eReader, don’t forget to get your copy of Unexpected Metamorphosis today as a free gift for stopping by. Sorry, but this raffle is for US residents only.
I haven’t sent out an update in a while, and many of my readers have asked when to expect the third book in the Alissia Roswell Series. Unexpected Peril is set for release this spring, with the cover reveal coming soon. Right now I’m focused on getting it to the editor, so I’m in the process of reading through it and making the necessary changes. Once I’m finished with my changes and it leaves my hands, I’ll have more time to work with the cover designer. I’ll also get the Pinterest book board out, so you’ll get an idea of some of the scenes, which are much different than the other two books.
Stay tuned! Although my personal life has been wreaking havoc with my editing, I’m still ahead of schedule compared to the first two books in the series. My goal is to put two novels out each year, and I believe I’m getting more efficient and better at this author life. My mind is consumed with future books, and I’m dying to get each of them out.
