Pre-Order a Paperback of Unexpected Beginning Today!

Posted by on Jun 20, 2018 in Unexpected Beginning | 0 comments

It’s almost here! Since the release of the Kindle version, many of you asked when the paperback would be ready. Well, you can now pre-order it at Amazon. I usually offer signed copies via mail, but since I’m living on a sailboat this summer, it’s going to be a while before I get settled back at my office.

We’re docked at Jekyll Island for the month of June, and if you recall, Alissia spent much of her childhood here. I’ve been visiting family in her hometown, which means I’ve been picking and shelling purple hull peas and eating lots of blueberry cobbler. Some of my family came to stay with me on the boat while my husband and son traveled to Atlanta for a business trip, and some friends from Florida visited the water park on the island for a day. Oh, and my two-year-old granddaughter is tagging along for a bit as well. Forget calm sunsets on the water–life has been crazy!

Next month looks promising, though. After a week with some friends, we plan to sail to Hilton Head for the month of July. We don’t know anyone in that area, so things should slow down.

I’ll do a post about Jekyll Island soon. I have many memories here, and so do my children. I’ll also do some posts about life on a boat. Last week I had three teenage girls aboard, and I quickly learned they shed worse than dogs. Hair was everywhere!

Be sure to get your copy of Unexpected Beginning, and please don’t forget to leave an honest review.

Love Unexpected by G.G. Vandagriff

Don’t miss G.G. Vandagriff’s latest Regency romance where a simmering attraction combines with a dangerous mystery . . .

When the widowed Lady Marianne Deveridge is invited to spend the season in London with her friend Lady Penelope Wellingham, she has no idea that Penny and Beau have another guest: Captain Ernest Saunders, Beau’s brother. Matchmaking is definitely afoot. However, after having been married to wandering explorer, Marianne has no intention of becoming involved with a wandering sea captain.
Her first sight of Captain Saunders in all his robust masculinity brings every one of her senses to attention. She knows then that her resolve will be difficult to keep.
Almost immediately upon making the captain’s acquaintance, Marianne becomes the focus of a mysterious villain who is devising a horse racing fraud. What has she seen to endanger a deadly felon? She has no idea.
Captain Saunders makes it his business to keep Marianne safe, and the two of them are brought closer by their investigation into the dark side of horse racing. Still, she thinks she is managing to resist his charms.
It is not until her very survival is at stake that she realizes how interwoven their lives have become. Will her heart ever recover once she watches another ship put out to sea?

At that moment, Arabella entered holding Gweet by the hand. The girl had never been bashful. Walking forward, she executed a grave curtsey. She said, “Arabella tells me you are her brother, Captain. I am called Gweet, though actually my name is Marguerite. My twin is Lord Deveridge, but he is at Eton.”
The reverent awe with which her daughter was looking at Beau’s brother was something Marianne had never witnessed in her daughter.
The captain performed a full bow. “I am enchanted to make your acquaintance, Miss Marguerite.”
“Are you married?” Gweet asked.
“No. I have spent too much time at sea to settle down,” he said with a grin.
“Then I should like to marry you, please.”
Amused but not terribly surprised at her daughter’s request, Marianne gave Captain Saunders full marks for not showing a twitch of a smile. Instead he put both hands on her shoulders and said, “I may be wrong, of course, but I do not think you are quite old enough to marry, as yet. Shall we talk about it again in a few years?”
Behind a furrowed brow, Gweet appeared to be considering this. “I shall be eighteen in just six years.”
“And by then I shall be at least a hundred!”
“I am not a child, Captain. I expect that you are near to thirty now. You will be six and thirty when I am old enough to wed.”
“We shall talk about it then. But I am as certain as I can be that you will have your mind set upon marrying a duke or at least a marquess when you make your come out.”
Gweet shook her head solemnly. “I will show you. I can be faithful.”
Marianne fought the urge to tell her daughter that her prospective husband would never venture such a pledge. Her own feet were back on the ground. This man may be a glorious specimen of manhood, but he was not for her.

Love Unexpected by G.G. Vandagriff is an absolute delight to read. This thrilling novel with a bit of adventure and mystery within is well-written, page-turning, and one that readers will absolutely not want to put down. Vandagriff has a great talent in the way she writes, capturing her readers’ attention from page one every time! And this fun new series is no different. I would recommend this novel to readers that enjoy charming historical regency romance stories.–The Singing Librarian Blog Review

LOVE UNEXPECTED is a sweet romance with a little danger and two strong characters. I loved Earnest and Marianne from the start. I also loved that you can feel their attraction to each other and so can they. I then enjoyed the back and forth between them and how much time they ended up spending together, developing a friendship before the romance progressed. The suspense elements of the story also kept things interesting and provided some sweet moments between these two. I adored Marianne’s daughter. The ending was adorable and perfect for this story.–Wishful Endings Blog Review

As a writer, I love to wake up each day to a world of my own creation. This has been going on for a long time since I started writing at age nine! I love to write novels set in the Regency, such as Love Unexpected, because I can totally immerse myself in the challenges of another place and time. But I also like the world of Romantic Suspense (my newest novel, Breaking News, comes out this month), Historical Fiction and Romance, and Mysteries.

My favorite novel? Jane Eyre. I love: playing with my seven grandchildren, Florence, Italy, Chocolate, Sundance Resort, Lilacs, and dachshunds.

Take a Chance on Me by Kaylee Balwin

Madelyn Stewart knows how to have fun, no matter what her ex-husband claims, but between working two jobs and taking care of her five-year-old son, opportunities for fun are few and far between. So when she is given tickets to take her son to see a live taping of the MyHeartChannel show Take a Chance, they go, even though it means she’ll have to stay up all night to turn in her latest article on time. To her shock, the daredevil star, Chance Risk, is none other than Graham Sawyer, the quiet accounting major she’d dated in college—someone she’d cowardly broken up with by note and hoped to never see again. When she makes a major mistake on her article, she has to swallow her embarrassment and reach out to Chance for an exclusive or risk losing her job.

Chance Risk doesn’t talk to reporters. Not after the way he’s seen them destroy his brother’s marriage and career. But Take a Chance is starting to lose viewers, he’s desperate. Despite his better judgment, when Madelyn reaches out, he can’t resist the opening to figure out why she broke his heart eight years before. His only condition: she has to come to three filming locations with him and his crew to get a real sense of what the show is about.

Swept up in adventure, they start to feel the chemistry from college rekindling. But the reason Madelyn left eight years before still looms between them. If Chance can’t convince Madelyn to take a chance on love, she’ll walk away again. This time forever.

“You’re beautiful,” he whispered, and she turned to him, recalling her too-casual clothes, her frizzy hair, the sugar still dusting her face. But when he looked at her that way, she believed it.

She rested her head on Chance’s firm chest and listened to his steady heartbeat as they swayed gently to the music. Oliver still drew with the children, happiness lighting his face. She wanted to soak in the pure contentment of the moment.

“Madelyn,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.

She lifted her head, and a stray hair flew across her mouth in the warm breeze. He caught it, his knuckles brushing across her lips. Her breath caught and the entire world disappeared. It was just the two of them caught up in the magic of being.

“Take A Chance On Me shows off Baldwin’s brilliance in crafting an unforgettable story. The characters take on a life of their own, with moments that made me laugh and cry right along with them. From the first chapter I was drawn into this sweet romantic adventure and didn’t want it to end!” -Chelsea Hale, author of Mr. Write and Hart to Heart

“Kaylee Baldwin is a master at bringing you into the lives of the characters and feeling with them as they fall in love. I deeply enjoyed watching Chance and Madelyn find their friendship again and see it progress to love. Baldwin makes every step the character take toward each other the perfect one, leading to an ending that had me sighing with satisfaction.” -Ranee S. Clark, author of Playing for Keeps and Love, Jane

“This story pulls the reader in; one won’t notice the pages flying by while reading. Love the characters, love the story, love the ending!” (Amazon Review)

Danielle Thorne – Unforgettable Love – $25 Giveaway

A Pirate at Pembroke by Danielle Thorne

Keeping company with a reputed pirate is one thing, but falling in love with him could ruin the eccentric Crestwood family for good…

Sophie Crestwood is never going to catch a husband. Her father is a gossip, her mother has her nose in a book, and little Jack has shamefully been dismissed from boarding school. Worst of all, a pirate moves next door into Pembroke Hall.

When Sophie’s sent to a matchmaking party at a neighboring estate, the pirate from Pembroke arrives and distracts everyone from the summer festivities. Unguarded, her feelings about the mysterious Captain Murdock bloom into a trusted friendship that Sophie fears may come to mean more than anyone would ever suspect.

He held a handful of her shift in his fist. She had not snagged it after all. Rather, he had snagged her. She jerked in surprise, but his hold kept her from falling backward and tumbling down the stairs. His other hand trembled as it balanced precariously on a carved dragon head at the top of his cane.
“What do you think you are doing?”
“I… I heard music and followed it.”
His eyes blazed with accusation, and it unnerved her.
“I’m so sorry,” she said in a choking voice. Her nose tingled again. She touched it with her fingers to make it stop.
“It’s not possible you heard music from all the way down in your room.”
Sophie took a nervous breath. He stood there, one step above her like a giant, her bedclothes gripped in his hand so tight it shook. She hadn’t heard him shuffle down the hall after her. He moved as silent as a ghost when he wanted — even with a cane. She found the courage to meet his penetrating gaze. “I did hear something from my room. Then I was in the hall.”
Captain Murdock waited for a long pause, while the dust they had stirred up in the rugs pirouetted in the air and into Sophie’s eyes and nose. “You should not be out of bed,” he said.
Sophie swallowed down her frightened apprehension. She tried to beg his pardon, but her lungs failed her, and she coughed in reflex. She covered her mouth with her fingers. “I’m so sorry,” she repeated between them, her cheeks hot with humiliation. She stared at the fistful of her garments he’d snatched, aware his eyes examined her from her straight, waist-length hair down to her naked ankles. With a jerk, he dropped her shift like it burned his hand.
“Go to bed,” he said in a quiet voice.
Sophie’s nose had not quit tingling and itching. “Yes, sir,” she said at once, but not soon enough to keep a sneeze from erupting. It came so fast and without warning, she had no chance to catch it before it doused him with all her rejection.
Horrified, she stumbled down the next step, thankful the old handrail held fast. When she glanced back, he was wiping off his shirt with a look of disgust.

“There have been only a handful of times when a book truly blows me away. This is one of those times. It’s full of emotions from laughter to tears and all in between.” –D. Pearson

“This sweet romance will give you all the feels and keep you turning pages. Romance, mystery and a little humor made this an engaging and satisfying read.” –F. Brown
